Andrea Grace Gent (July 3, 1985 - January 30, 2005)

Andrea Grace Gent '07 President's Endowed Scholarship...

The President's Endowed Scholarship program is the most prestigious academic scholarship awarded by Texas A&M University.  The scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who have outstanding scholastic and extracurricular records.  Scholars receive the award for eight semesters of undergraduate study, provided they maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point ratio.

Beginning with only five scholarships in 1968, the endowment for the PES program has provided educational funds to over 3,500 students.

Andrea's father, David Gent, received one of the earliest Texas A&M President's Endowed Scholarships while he was in high school. James “Cop” Forsyth (class of 1912) donated his scholarship. Mr. Forsyth was the founder and President of Forsyth Engineering Company, and a major contributor to Texas A&M University.

Andrea's family and friends funded this permanently endowed scholarship. Craig Brown and Frank Raymond led the fund raising effort.

The first recipient of the Andrea Grace Gent '07 President Endowed Scholarship will enroll at Texas A&M University in the fall 2005 semester.  Information will be posted on the website as it becomes available.

When this first recipient completes their education, the scholarship will be awarded to another student. This process will continue permanently.

As a result of this endowment, there will always be a student at Texas A&M who will benefit from Andrea's legacy of love and sharing.
